The Rimbey Library plays an important role in building a connected community.
The library is a place where all local residents can access computers. We offer wifi and have multiple public access computers. Recently we have been provided with Telus SmartHubs (donated by Telus) to loan out to our patrons who may not have access to internet. We pair these with an electronic device to provide barrier-free service!
We provide access to the internet as well as computer equipment and software so that residents can prepare and print documents (such as resumes), catch up with social media and online news, search for work and explore the world around them, without pushing their budgets to the outer limits.
We provide all of these services for free!
We help local residents connect with one another at a plethora of social events every year, many of them offered to the community at no or low cost. Many local residents are able to enjoy a night at the movies at the Rimbey Library (or Peter Lougheed Community Centre), thanks to the generosity of the Rimbey Lions Club.
Whenever there is a library or community centre full of people enjoying themselves, whether it's for a Halloween party or wine tasting, these are people who are not going out of town for their entertainment. Instead they are finding high quality local events where they can connect with others in their community.
The Rimbey Library strives to provide the best service and programs. To do this we must partner with other community organizations. We often are connecting with organizations such as the Beatty Heritage House, the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey Neighbourhood Place, Amnesty International and more! Partnering together means that our community gets more programs with less duplication of services.
